wonky websites!

Hey, i noticed that when i come the forum part of vagabondlords (which happens to be FAVORITE! webcomic
ever!
) that if i get here in non flash version, and i click the link to change the comic to flash version, it automatically brings me back to the home page with the news updates. Not that it's a really huge issue, but i was wondering if this was something that you wanted to fix before launching...just a thought?

I knew there was a reason I made you an admin.
The reason you were returned to the homepage when you clicked the "Flash version" link in the header is because it was a hardcoded link in the header, where the header is an external file (so I can modify it once for the whole site). You would have been returned to the homepage no matter what page you were on when you clicked it. It was a throwback from the original version of the site before I incorporated cookies. Now that I am using cookies it's easier to code it in such a way that the link simply changes the flash cookie and reloads whatever page you happen to be on. But instead I'm going to just replace it with a simple link to the homepage (since it isn't always obvious to some that the banner at the top is itself a link back to the homepage). I don't think its necessary to have a toggle between flash and non-flash mode on every single page. I will just include it along with the alternate themes on the news page. That should be sufficient.
Thanks for the feedback.

hey, i just checked VL since you said that you had put in the javascript that should prevent those lines from appearing around flash links--yet it's to no avail it seems. On my computer at least, the borders still appear with the text "click here to activate" just like before. Just wanted to let you know, eh?

hmm well when I initially added that javascript it was working fine everywhere but in the forum section (because the forum is located in its own subfolder and the javascript is an external file, the path to it would be different in the forum than the rest of the site). Since the header of the site is itself an external file I had decided to just put the code for the external javascript file right into the header. Apparently that will not work however due to the way in which the javascript works, so I will do what I probably should have done to begin with which is to keep the javascript an external file but change the path from relative to absolute. That should fix the problem.

I must say that i love the fact that you explain everything, so that there is no confusion as to what is really going on with the website! you can even break it down for us dummies out here to understand, thanks! Everything else is looking great, can't wait for the launch! Is that someone in the background saying "10, 9, 8, 7..."? Remember, often times when swimming in the ocean, the best way to get in is to just jump...i think you're ready for it! Keep up the great work, and good luck bro!
